Jennifer Tierney is the Principal
and founder of the Gemini Group, a San Diego-based political consulting firm that serves clients in both Southern California and Virginia.
Tierney founded the company in 1999 with twin sister Anne Kearns after working in government and private business for more than ten years.
Jennifer has put together an impressive win record in her time in the campaign business, with more than 40 wins in both California and Virginia,
making her one of San Diego’s winningest political consultants.
Tierney’s most recent victories include 2008 primary wins for Todd Gloria for San Diego City Council; Sherri Lightner for San Diego City Council;
Garry Haehnle for Judge and Evan Kirvin for Judge. In 2006 she posted wins for Kevin Faulconer for San Diego City Council and David Rubin for Superior Court Judge.
In 2004, Jennifer forged victories for the re-election campaigns of Dick Murphy for Mayor of San Diego and Toni Atkins for San Diego City
Council. She helped lead the passage of Yes on Proposition F (the Strong Mayor initiative), No on A (the Rural Lands Initiative) and the re-election of Superior Court Judge Kevin Enright. She also
worked on a
winning ballot initiative for a high school bond measure in James City County, Virginia, and helped elect Andy Bradshaw to the James City County Board of Supervisors in 2003. In 2002 she helped win victories for Michael Zucchet for City Council and Bonnie Dumanis for District Attorney, as well as two judges, Dan Goldstein and Jeff Bostwick, and the re-election campaign of Escondido Mayor Lori Holt Pfeiler. San Diego Magazine named her one of the “50 people to watch” in San Diego in 2004.
In addition to her campaign clients, Jennifer consults to the San Diego City Fire Fighters, Local 145 and various private clients.
Jennifer began her career in 1988 with the Cadmus Group, a Washington, DC-based environmental consulting firm. She moved to San Diego in 1989
and worked as manager of the Environmental Services Program of the County Department of Agriculture, Weights and Measures for ten years
During her tenure with the County she served as Chair of the California Africanized Honey Bee Public Education Committee and worked on land use issues related to the urban/agricultural interface.
Jennifer graduated from the College of William and Mary in 1988 with a BA in English.
She lives in Williamsburg, Virginia, with her husband Mike, a government professor at the College of William and Mary and Director of International Relations, and their two children, Davis (15) and Anne Catherine (13), who keep her working to pay for their musical instruments (harp, piano, violin, cello, mandolin and guitar). In her spare time she enjoys gardening, biking, and serving as President of the non-profit Williamsburg Youth Harp Society, despite her complete lack of musical talent. Tierney is a frequent traveller to serve clients on both coasts.
